Message from Allyson Brown, BSF's Executive Director

The Bainbridge Schools Foundation (BSF) was founded by a group of parents committed to strengthening our public schools in partnership with our school district. At a time when school funding was at an all-time low, private donations became imperative to providing a quality education for our children.

Today is no different. Decades later, our public schools remain underfunded. To help fill this gap, BSF continues to play a significant role in supporting academic pursuits and enrichment opportunities across our seven campuses. In the 2018/19 school year, BSF provided funds for our district to deliver a vast array of programs that enrich the educational experience of our students from kindergarten through graduation.

There is no question that our schools and students excel because we have an engaged community of parents, business leaders, educators and neighbors that are willing to invest in our children’s education and future. Our work together continues, year after year, as we strive to empower our children and enrich their academic lives, one student at a time.

We are inspired by our community’s tremendous investment in our schools and look forward to partnering with you again for another school year. Thank you for your commitment and generosity.

Get to know our Board President, Anna Steen

As a parent in the Bainbridge Island School District and a current board president of the Bainbridge Schools Foundation, I feel grateful to live in a community where so many people contribute time and resources to our schools.

It takes a village to raise a child, as the old saying goes. It also takes an island as dedicated and caring as Bainbridge to make quality public education for all students a reality.

Our district is known for its dedicated teachers, hard-working staff, and engaged parents. Why is Bainbridge Schools Foundation necessary? To be blunt, because state and federal funding does not meet the needs of all our families. It requires additional resources to ensure our schools meet the needs of every student, every day.

Through the generosity of our donors, BSF enhances education for students from kindergarten through graduation. BSF funds innovative programs like the STEM Lab, academic support for struggling students, the social emotional learning initiative, and training and professional development for educators. I have seen firsthand the positive impact BSF makes in our schools.

It takes an island to ensure our schools inspire and support all students. I truly believe that quality education is the base for ensuring the next generation creates a kinder, better world. Please join me in this mission.
